Re: New Otter owner - looking for a bermudan rig
Hi cweed, Yes, things are pretty quiet for some reason. I guess not so many Otters around anymore - I may be hogging a decent percentage with two  I had no idea you were Hayling based. I'm not far away in Widley. Do you sail in Langstone or Chichester? I'm guessing Chichester unless you are at...

Re: Otter for sale
It looks as though post approval has been enabled, but without sending me notifications. Apologies for the delay in approving this.

Re: Free Otter
I noted that and very briefly considered it, but given I'm only after a mast and boom I decided I really didn't need another hull. I'm currently refurbishing my original Otter and finding more to do as I dig into it. I may just be trying to do a better job than strictly necessary as bar one piece of...

Re: Centreboard
The first description sounds like the Otter I have in the drive which is much newer than the one I have at the club. This centreboard is from the club one, which is definitely the latter. I removed the bolt through the casing to get it out. The smaller hole in the lump has a pin through it to hold i...

Centreboard
I have just removed the centreboard from one of my Otters and noticed a notch cut out of the forward end of it (see photo) that has two small holes that seem to indicate something may have been screwed into it at that point. Does anyone have pictures of theirs or any info that may shed some light on...

Re: About bouancy
That sounds very much like the older of our two, with just a couple of small bungs at the after end of the side seats. I suspect the newer one may be different as it is one of the double skinned ones that I think has what I've seen referred to as integrated buoyancy tanks. This might end up being a ...

Re: Introducing myself
Hi, not too far away from me. I met somebody from the Dinghy Cruising Association at a local RYA meeting a month or so back. Reminded me of my initial plans to use my Mirror for cruising round Langstone and likely Portsmouth and Chichester too. I had an old tent and was planning to carry boards to c...

Re: Sails and Rudder
It's a centreboard I'm after, along with a mast and boom. I picked up a nice rudder and cover recently for £45. One of my Otters needs a scrape and a coat of paint, plus a bit of glue to stop the centreboard de-laminating further (that should be this weeks job, with any luck and a following wind). T...

Re: Otter cover
I don't have one available myself, as it happens I've only just got hold of one for my own Otter which has had to suffer the elements without one. I struck lucky with one turning up locally on eBay for £25. I have been looking around though and, without recommending anyone as I haven't used any of t...

Re: Free Sails Spinaker and trailers - damaged boat if wante
I keep meaning to thank Annabel and Huw, so it I'll do it here and reply to your post at the same time Chris. I have the Otter on my drive, and before I saw her was planning to find a way to dispose of the hull. Having seen it though, bar the damage she is in better condition than mine, so I now hav...

Re: Free Sails Spinaker and trailers - damaged boat if wante
That's quite a trip, but if you're willing and able to do it that works for me. I am now unable to make it on the 12th so it would save delaying things for Annabel. I've sent a direct email to check whether this works.

Re: Free Sails Spinaker and trailers - damaged boat if wante
Sorry Annabel, I've been flat out with work. I've not sorted out a towbar yet, the lead time is longer than I expected. I've been meaning to do it for a while now, but have a friend with a towbar who generally tows Bertie home on the club trailer for the cost of a pint which has probably made me laz...

Re: Free Sails Spinaker and trailers - damaged boat if wante
Sorry, a bit slow of the mark with a reply. I was considering sorting something out for Wednesday since I'll be part way there, but it seems as though being in Hove doesn't help much for travel time - only saves about 30 to 45 mins! My other slight issue is that I currently don't have a towbar fitte...

Re: Free Sails Spinaker and trailers - damaged boat if wante
Definitely interested, although I'll have to check how long the trip would be. The sails I have on ours are sailing school training sails, and the trailer would be handy to bring her home from the club to work on more easily.

End of season sail and centreboard
I took a bit of time out from work this morning to take Bertie, an Otter obviously, out for an end of season sail. I really can't get over how well she handles. She tacks very quickly and smoothly with so little loss of speed she is a pleasure to handle. Bertie isn't a showroom boat either, with qui...
