Re: Rudder angle
I like this site .
good info for the novice sailor.
went out this last Thursday , after a bit of a scary fire incident at the boat club we went out , it was a bit choppy , alas I was only in control of the for sale .
Maybe next time I will sail MY Otter

Ps , Craig can sail

Re: Rudder angle
So your saying it should be quite vertical when under way , so that would also help with side stability like the centre board ?

Rudder angle
Good evening all,
Whilst out in the Otter I noticed that the rudder does not stay in a vertical stance when on the move , is this correct or do I need stronger elastic to pull it down .
I know wood is its own buoyancy .
Regards

Hi James ,
where did you get your aluminium cb? on my last outing we capsized and when attempting the standing on the cb there was a cracking sound , it didn't break but who knows how long it will last .

Re: New Otter Dinghy
Hi Roger , well done for getting an Otter . I don't know an awful amount about these boats as I've only just finished restoring mine and only been out in it twice . From looking at your pictures I can see either I've got my mast foot wrong or there are more options , as mine sits fully on that plate...

Re: masthead bouyancy
Hi Dave ,
I would like like to know the answer to this question also as yesterday I too had a capsize and the mast got stuck in the mud , we were lucky as there were two of us to get the boat up again but it was quite a struggle .
Regards

Hi Dave , Thanks for the reply , mine did have a piece of rubber on it but when i took it off to re-varnish it ( way back in 2005 ! , its taken a while  ) one of the brass screws sheared off and I have since lost the piece of rubber , so as I had never put it in the case I didn't know of its p...

523 went sailing
A chum from work used to be in the sea scouts some years ago and said he would show me the ropes. He is a member of the Tipnor Angling and boat club and we could launch from there the wind was 7-9 mph this evening which was good for my First sailing experience . Craig had the helm for the first hour...

Center board
Sorry another question ,
how is the center board held in the down position , mine has a rop on the end of the "handle" .
For transporting I have put a bungy over it and to the deck hold for the toe strap but how do i keep it in the down position ?
