Re: Centreboard.

Much to my shame I am still making the replacement centreboard! This is mainly due to having too many toys and partly because I put the pivot somewhere safe so I would not loose it...
I have pulled my finger out and have started to fabricate a new pivot and hopefully will have time to finish soon

Re: Beating upwind- Mast Rake

I have quite a bit of rake on the mast, it took a lot of fiddling to get it right. In light winds I have to try everything to stay with some of the more modern boats but in a blow I can just about keep with lasers although I have to put in far more effort than them!

Re: Otter 134

I sailed for three years without capsizing then my daughter managed to several times in one day. I then did the same! Each time we turtled, luckily there was a safety boat as I couldn't right her without help.

fun,fun,fun!

its good to know there are others who think otters are fantastic boats. I have been taking sea scouts out in mine and teaching total beginners to sail and giving them an idea of what to do before pushing them off into the sunset in oppies!

at long last

I have finally got the boat rigged and have been sailing several times a week for the last few weeks :D . the bad(?) news is that I usually have several scouts with me but they all are enthusiastic and have all enjoyed sailing an otter. when there has been no wind we have been teaching them to row w...

Its bloody cold!

I'm waiting for it to warm up slightly before I rig Tarka for some new photos. It is much warmer in the scouts boatshed, unfortunatly I have 12 boats to get ready for the end of April before I can play properly on the water :(
